11 months: speech development
Now a dance appears in the physical development of the child. Of course, this is still a kind of movement to the music, but this is only the beginning! Turn on funny music more often and sing with it.
The baby’s sleep is also quite long. Many children by the age of 11 months are already sleeping twice a day, some only once.
Motor skills are improved, in particular fine motor skills. The child already knows how to turn the pages of a cardboard book, wrinkles and tears the paper, even if not accurately, but turns the pages of a regular book.
Changes are also taking place in the diet – a child can eat soft fruits on his own. Do not let the child eat solid fruit or vegetables in a piece (apple, carrot), the child can bite off a piece, cannot chew (there are no chewing teeth yet, and the gums will not crush the hard fruit) and aspirate (inhale) it. For the time being, give solid fruits in crushed form, while soft ones (for example, banana) will teach the child to bite and chew.
The child has become more independent. He learns to understand what he wants and what he does not want. His actions become focused. A little researcher is interested in absolutely everything. I hope you have already closed all household chemicals under a barn lock and removed everything sharp, fragile away from his tenacious pens.
Every month, the child’s game becomes more and more difficult. By the age of 11 months – 1 year, he is ready for the first story game. The baby is waiting for your praise every time. You can teach him how to help you in a playful way. For example, put scattered toys in a basket. It’s never too early to start teaching.
The child communicates more actively. He actively uses onomatopoeia and simple words. Reading books with vivid pictures is a useful and exciting activity. Often, children themselves examine pictures in a book, turning over thick cardboard pages – this is 5 minutes of free time for mom. Use it!
♦ Independently stand at the support, walk along it.
♦ Climb to a small elevation and descend from it.
♦ Show body parts on other people (nose, mouth, eyes).
♦ Put the rings on the pyramid without the correct sequence.
♦ Turn the pages of a cardboard book.
♦ Drinks independently from a drinker or mug.
♦ Some children walk without assistance.
♦ Delivers a familiar toy upon request.
Another important point that needs to be discussed in the family is discipline. The most effective discipline is simply sequential action. If something is forbidden, it is always forbidden, regardless of whether the child asks or cries, and, of course, the mood of the parent. If one parent forbids something, then the other parent should not allow it. There should be no confusion in the child’s head.
How to play
The better developed the coordination of movements of the child and fine motor skills, the more difficult the developmental games. Now you can use various jigsaw puzzles, complicate sorters. Usually the baby copes well with 2-3 forms (circle, square, triangle) and tries to fold the rest.
Story games are great for a grown kid. Usually, children repeat for adults what they see daily: put the laundry in a basin, put it back in the washing machine, knock it with a toy hammer and talk on the phone. Always remember: “Children – see, children – do.”
The child already remembered well where Mom’s nose, mouth and eyes are. Now show where he has these parts of his body. Broaden his horizons.
Books. Children are happy to listen to them and view pictures. During reading, try to put the baby not on his knees, but sit opposite him so that he sees your facial expressions and articulation. Emotions are a very important part of a fairy tale.
What can be taught
Simple housework is what the child will best do right now. Of course, while it’s extremely difficult to call it completely help, however, it can help you collect your toys and put them in a drawer.
Teach him to speak words correctly, pronounce his actions.
What feels and how it behaves
A child is a little experimenter. He tastes everything new. Many people like to experiment with food and new tastes. Others, by contrast, do not crave new food. Push, offer, but not force.
The child’s hearing is very sensitive. He hears perfectly and easily responds to his name.
The kid already knows how to get angry, upset, have fun, get bored. And this is not the whole spectrum of his emotions.
How speech develops
If by the age of 1 year the child has at least 1 full word in his speech, then the neuropsychic development of the baby is normal. Please do not compare your child with a peer-talker. These are different children and they have the right to individual development. Compare your child with him.
Now the baby begins to use simplified words (“yum-yum”, “bang”, “yes”, “must”, “give”), actively uses onomatopoeia. Talk to him more often – this will replenish his vocabulary, and he will be more willing to share new words with you.
